Religious Blog Day!

So I guess today just gets to be my religious blog day.

For those of you that don't know there is this preacher that stands on Academic Plaza here at A&M a few times a year and basically calls anyone conservative "God's messengers" and any one not "Satan's minions." So I was very tempted to repeat my debate with him that happened about this time last year. It went something like this:

He was calling the war in Iraq a Holy war that all Christians everywhere should rally behind and basically calling anyone that opposed the war (there were war protesters present) "Satan's minions." So I decided to try and confront him on his own terms. I don't remember exact what was said. Just that I quoted scripture for the most part and he kept insisting that the protestors were violating God's will and would answer for it some day. The debate ended when the preacher told me that "I am sad for your soul young man, and I will pray that the Lord will turn from your destructive path leading to Hell." (or something very very close to that)

And today he was at it again defending all right wing political beliefs as holy and "God's will" while dismissing anything that didn't agree with his narrow view of the world as belonging to Satan. I just can't help but think that the world would be a better place if people just stopped listening to him and others that justify war as the will of God. Wow, that sounds just like the people that this "War on Terror" is fighting... Now that makes you think... Maybe I should go tell him this...

Sad Thought of the Day...

So more people in the UK believe in ghosts than believe in God…. This is just sad. CNN article is here.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?

Anybody else miss those old “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago?” Games? Well someone apparently did enough to make one using Google Maps. It’s pretty cool and is a great tool for procrastinating. You can find it here.

Ok I want one...

So the UK is selling their nuclear holicaust bunker. So who wants to buy it with me so that we can set up our own underground city? It houses about 4000 and only costs 5 million Pounds. So that works out to like $2226.50 each. Come on it'll be fun.

I hate to say I told you so...

From the New York Times (article here):

The strikes came as the Israeli defense minister, Shaul Mofaz, expressed doubt that Israel could make peace "with the present leadership of the Palestinians," given their reluctance to crack down on terrorist groups, adding: "I don't think a Palestinian state will see the light of day in the coming years."
So dispite the withdrawl from parts of Gaza by Israel, Palestinians keep attacking Israelies....
They keep being terrorists... I wanna know what happened to the "We don't negotiate with terrorists" attitudes that prevaled 10 years ago. No instead Israel practicly says "Hey terrorists its working we're doing some of what you want" and the whole world including the US stands there and applauds... WTF aren't we in a "War on Terror"? Or is it really a war on Iraq?

Take one for your team

Come on people... you got out of his way... you didn't jump up to get the ball before him... This is why you didn't win... a White Sox fan, a Red Sox fan, a Yankees fan would stand in his way and need to basicly be tackled to get out of his way... but no the Astros fans decided to get out of his way allowing him to make the difficult catch... enjoy 40 more years of waiting Astos fans, you didn't want it bad enough.

Since Blogging is seemingly always under attack
Here
And Here

I think if the Founding Fathers could see the state of the world today they would realize that sometimes a blog is the only way that a story is going to be broken. So why don't these bloggers have the same protections as the press?

Oh well there is my rant of the day.

Coupling

Ok guess everyone was right... I don't know that I really dismay attracting crazy people though... they're generally more fun...

Sport's Analogies

So I had a girl in one of my classes come up to me and ask why I looked so down. I told her about my breakup, then she smiled at me and asked "So you're on the rebound now?" (yes, I know subtle... but not the funny part of the story) . To which I replied "Um... no I think I need to pick myself up off the court before I try for any rebounds..." It took her a minute before she was like "Oh that's funny" said goodbye and walked away.... Now that I read this it was alot funnier if you were there...

Tis Better to have loved and lost...

Saint Augustine obviosly never lost anyone that he truely and deeply loved.... atleast not when there was something that he could have done to stop it... I keep thinking, maybe I could have lied to her... I could have said "Yes I know I can be there for you forever. I know that no matter what happens I'll be with you." But some how my morals were more important than my love... I honestly thought that she'd win out... That I would do anything to keep her. But I guess not.

I loved the girl but I couldn't change who I am... violate everything I was raised to believe for her. I dunno does that make me a bad person?

Ok my main contribution to the Linux Kernel

Ok someone asked... there are about 50 lines of code that I changed in the megaraid_sas driver. But the main one that sticks out that is a) still there and b) unchanged is this one

if (!((prev_aen.members.locale & curr_aen.members.locale) ^
curr_aen.members.locale))

Bonus points if you can actually figure out what it does :) And yes I actually wrote a truth table for this one...

So yeah I'm a geek....

I'm trying out this OpenID thing. So far it lets you log into Live journal without actually having to have a live journal which is nice... It will be alot cooler when more sites suport it. So if you interested my OpenID is here.
