Apparently I'm bad luck...

Just a fair warning if you have a show that you like, tell me not to watch it. Basicly every show that I like gets canceled early.

I finally get into Firefly... they cancel it.
I (and everyone I know) loves Dead Like Me... they cancel it.
Enterprise (finally a better Star Trek)... canceled after 4 seasons.
Alias... canceled after 5.

So yeah unless you want something canceled just don't let me watch it.

Kinda saw this coming.... but still pissed

They're canceling Alias.... oh well I guess I can just watch DVD since pretty much all TV will soon suck...

Being an Aggie..

I'm going to try to do what so many have tried and failed to do before, describe what an Aggie is.

Tonight I went to the Bonfire Memorial at 2:42 am. I expected to find very few people there, after all few if any of these people knew people who died or were injured in the collapse. But there were a couple of thousand people there.

At 2:42 Mr. Kerlee and I approached the center pole stone along with the Wests. The crowd soon followed (ok after some encouragement). There we read the "We Remember Them" poem. Then someone started singing Amazing Grace. We soon all joined in... the only problem is we started to forget the verse order and some of the words. Then we sang The Spirt, and someone actually started to do the yell at the end. This caused quiet a few smiles and even some laughs.

Then on our way out the fish from Squadron 16 stopped to hug Mr. Kerlee. These people were in 8th grade when Bonfire fell... but they are connected to Tim by the common bond they share which is that he stood in their shoes exactly 6 years ago.

This is what being an Aggie is all about. Being there when fellow Aggies are hurting and need your comfort. Being able to smile or laugh, even at the darkest times, to brighten someone else's outlook. And to continue a legacy, not because its "tradition," but because its the right thing to do.

There's a spirit can n'er be told...

The Last Corps Trip

It was judgment day in Aggieland
and tenseness filled the air;
All knew there was a trip at hand,
But not a soul knew where.

Assembled on the drill field
Was the world renowned Twelfth Man,
The entire Aggie team,
And, of course, the famous Aggie Band.

And out in front with royal guard
The reviewing party stood;
St. Peter and his angel staff
Were choosing bad from good.

First he surveyed the Aggie team
And in terms of an angel swore,
“By Jove, I do believe I’ve seen
This gallant group before.

I’ve seen them play since way back when
And they’ve always had the grit;
I’ve seen ‘em lose and I’ve seen ‘em win,
But I’ve never seen them quit.

No need for us to tarry here
Deciding upon their fates;
Tis plain as the halo on my head,
They’ve opened heaven’s gates.”

And when the Twelfth Man heard this,
They let out a mighty yell
That echoed clear to heaven
And shook the gates of hell.

“And what group is this upon the side,”
St. Peter asked his aide,
“That swelled as to burst with pride
When we our judgment made?”

“Why, sir, that’s the Cadet Corps
That’s known both far and wide
For backing up their fighting team
Whether they’ve won, lost, or tied.”

"Well, then," said St. Peter,"
It's very plain to me
That within the realms of Heaven
They should spend eternity.

And have the Aggie Band
At once commence to play
For their fates too we must decide
Upon this crucial day.”

And the drum major so hearing
Slowly raised his hand
And said “Boys, let’s play the Spirit
One last time in Aggieland.”

And the band poured forth the anthem,
In notes both bright and clear
And ten thousand Aggie voices
Sang the song they hold so dear.

And when the band had finished,
St. Peter wiped his eyes
And said, "It's not so hard to see
They're meant for Paradise."

And the colonel of the Cadet Corps said,
As he stiffly took his stand,
"It's just another Corps Trip, boys,
We'll march in behind the band."

Jordan Bomber

So Jordan captured a failed suicide bomber. And they got her to confess on national TV. My real point of confusion is that she was ready to kill herself and her husband killed himself. So what does she think she has to lose if she was already ready to die?

The next part of this story that just doesn't click is that supposedly her husband and she went into this hotel. She then tried to detonate her belt and it didn't work... So he asked her to leave so that he could blow himself up? Granted I'm not a suicide bomber but I would think something like "Ok, you goto that side of the hotel... I'll go to this side so that we inflict the most damage" or "Despite your belt not working you were ready to die at my side, so you can"

She just seems far too convenient a scape goat... But with holes in her story you could drive a semi through... I don't really have some big conspiracy theory why this is happening it just strikes me as very, very odd.

War on Terror? - Part 2

For those that don't get this. This is the class of '07s Junior E-Walk shirt which has an almost identical logo to '04s.
This is one of my buddies take on Prop 2. While not a very likely senario since as one of my friends points out "You can't tell that by their skin." But this does make you think...

Um?

Anyone think this actually describes me?

Your Birthdate: September 3

You are more than a big ball of energy - you are a big ball of hyper.
You are always on the go, but you don't have a type a personality.
Instead of channeling your energy into work, you instead go for fun and adventure.
Witty and verbal, you can have an interesting conversation with anyone.

Your strength: Your larger than life imagination

Your weakness: You tend to be pretty scattered

Your power color: Lime

Your power symbol: Lightening bolt

Your power month: March

I'm... Middle of the Road?

So apparently I'm a centrist... I wonder what happened I used to be so liberal... I dunno makes it easier to say I hate political labels now... and that I don't have a party I vote my consince.

Centrist
You scored 48 Politicalness!
You are probably in the middle of the political scale, or a Centrist (although, there is a chance you are a Libertarian that will shy away from the extreme views).

There are very few true Centrists. Some consider you fair and balanced, while others might consider you indecisive. In any event, you take a strong stand on issues... sort of... sometimes... as long as everybody is moderately happy.

Seriously, you believe in fairness and are not afraid to voice your opinions. Nothing wrong with that.

United States Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania is a good example of a Centrist.

What the Hell?

Washington Post Article

When did I move to a fucking police state? What the hell happened to the Bill of Rights?

I swear I'm never gonna vote for anyone who votes to extend the repeal of the Bill of Rights (aka the PATRIOT act).
Ok first off this article comes from the EFF so take it with a grain of salt... But if even half of this stuff isn't exaggerated... There goes the usefulness of TiVo and everything like it.

Analog video which has been branded as "do not copy", will last for only ninety minutes only in the digital world - and will be erased, literally frame by frame, megabyte by megabyte, from your PC, without your control. You'll watch a two hour film, and as you watch the final half hour, the first few scenes will be being dissolved away by statute.

So if I'm reading this right I DVR something like lets say a pay-per-view football game because I'm going to be out of town. By the time I get back in town it will have been erased?

The full article is here. And they have links to gripe at your representative if you find this as disturbing as I do.

It's official....

I eat at Subway too much. I am now on a first name basis with two Subway employee's and one of them knew my order before I even opened my mouth.... What can I say? I'm a creature of habit.

Apparently I'm the Count....

The Count
You scored 43% Organization, 31% abstract, and 50% extroverted!

You are mostly organized, more concrete, and both introverted and extroverted.

Here is why are you The Count.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. The Count is obsessive compulsive and needs to always count what he has. But hey, if he was really organized, he wouldn't have to count at all.

You both are concrete thinkers. The Count is very mathminded and wants to know what he has and where it is. His purpose in life is clear. You probably also know what you want in life, and you have a real plan toward achieving it. You aren't likely to throw everything away to take a risky chance.

You are both somewhat introverted. The Count is quite obsessed with himself and the things that belong to him. At the same time he has had 2 girlfriends and he has guests in his castle. Like The Count, you probably like to have some time to yourself, but you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.

Again Great Minds Think Alike...

I have read Beowulf and I like it...

You scored as Beowulf. Heroic, strong, and maybe a little on the proud side--not that you don't have a reason to be. After all, you defeat THREE major evils that ravage the countryside as well as many minor beasties that get in the way before you're done in. You simply don't give up. Without you, Hrothgar's Golden Hall would still stand empty.

Judged by one's peers?

So the judge in Tom Delay's trial was just removed for contributing to MoveOn.org and John Kerry's campaign during last November election. So since the judge was a Democrat he obviously would have been hostile to Delay right? And he couldn't possibly judge whether Delay violated campaign finance laws. I remember being guaranteed a jury of my peers but a judge that is my peer as well? This is freaking ridiculous.

I guess great minds think alike...

You scored 46% Sociability and 47% Sophistication! You are comfortable around others. While you don't have to go out every night, yet you take pride in being easy to get along with. This should not, however, be misconstrued as believing (as many do) that you are without subtlety. In fact, you have the power to inform the anal retentive that, indeed, they are discussing an anal-retentive issue. Who else can do that? Quotation marks intimidate you a little bit.
